  1. Lydia says:

I think that the features of our moon are spots that are lighter and darker. There are also spots that have craters and smooth and mountainous areas. There are most likely places on the moon that vary in temperature too.

    • Lydia says:

I claim that some features of the moon are maria, highlands, and craters along with others. My evidence is the moon’s maria are the low dark spots that you see. Highlands are the more elevated areas that light up and get illuminated by sunlight. Craters are bowl shaped depressions that could be caused by meteors or volcanic eruptions. There are also areas on the moon that are mountainous while other areas are smooth.

  2. susan says:

The moon is large and helps control the tides of the ocean with its gravitational force. Its physical aspects are the many craters on its surface and its grey/white color.

    • susan says:

The features of our moon are the craters, maria and phases. Maria are the dark spots we see on the moon and the craters are the smaller dark spots. The phases are apparent when the sun’s light is hitting the moon at different angles.

  3. Allyssa says:

Our moon orbits our planet. The side facing us is smooth and the other side is very mountainous. There are some craters scattered around the surface. The moon’s phases can regulate the ocean tides here on Earth.

    • Allyssa says:

I claim our moon has various features such as maria, highlands, rilles, craters, rays, and lunar regolith. My evidence is that the maria are dark plains of lower elevation on the moon that are basically huge basins containing lava flows marked by craters, ridges, faults, and straight and meandering valleys called rilles. Highlands are light-colored, non-mare regions of the moon that are heavily-cratered. Rays are light lines that appear on the moon’s surface, craters are bowl-shaped indents or cavities that were caused by an explosion or the impact of another celestial body, and lunar regolith is the layer of crumbled rock and loose debris on the moon’s surface.

  4. Lily says:

Our moon is very rocky on the other side but on the side facing us it’s smooth. It controls ocean tides with it’s gravitational force.

    • Lily says:

I claim that the moons features contain a maria, highlands, craters, and rays. Maria is the dark spots which were formed by ancient volcanic eruptions. Highlands are the lighter spots, they are exactly just like the maria, just lighter. Craters are the cup-shaped depressions with a raised rim. Rays is the moons light that makes it bright at night.

  5. Lexi says:

The moons gravitational poles help with the tides and there are quite a lot of craters on it.

    • Lexi says:

The moons features include Maria, highlands, craters, rilles, lunar regolith, and rays. Maria are the dark spot on the moon sometimes we can see them and thats why we see the mans face on the moon. Highlands is the part of the moon which isn’t very smooth but has many craters. Craters are pockets in the moon that are caused by volcanic eruptions. Rilles are valleys that are carved out on the moon. Lunar regolith is a layer loose debris on the moon and lastly rays are lighter lines that are seen on the moon.

  6. Raegan says:

The moon has many large craters, likely from an asteroids hitting it. It has a very mountainous side and a smoother side. It shines at night due to the sun reflecting on its surface. The moon is a grey color, appearing white or light grey when it is reflecting the sun light. The moon changes our oceans depending on the phase it is in.

    • Raegan says:

The moon has a mountainous side and a smooth side. We cannot see the more mountainous side of the moon, only the smoother part. One of the moons features is Maria, which are basaltic plains formed by ancient volcanic eruption. Something like Maria is highlands. Highlands have a more lighter surface, but are very similar to Maria. An obvious feature of the moon is its craters, which are depressions that are cup shaped, they have a raised rim. Craters are formed by meteoroid strikes. The lunar regolith is a layer of loose debris on the moon. Rilles are like craters in a sense, but are long and narrow depressions in the surface of the moon. Rilles resemble channels. Rays are systems, when a large body hits the moon a large amount of materials from the moon is thrown out with it. The moon has little to no tectonic movement, and hasn’t changed in billions of years.

  7. Ally says:

The size of our moon is a significant feature and also the phases of the moon that control the tides. The craters and the darker and lighter spots of the craters.

    • Ally says:

Some features of the moon include highlands, maria, craters, rays and rilles. The large, dark and basaltic plains on the moon are called Maria while the lighter and higher spots on the moon are called highlands. The moon also has rilles which are long narrow depressions on the surface of the moon. Craters which are bowl-shaped depressions with a raised rim, they often get confused with Maria. The moon has a montaunious side and a smoother side.

  8. Samara says:

I claim the moon has craters, mountains, flat areas, and areas of varying temperature. My reasoning is from Earth we can see the craters and flat areas. Also, scientists have long been wondering about why the sides of the moon are so different, ie. the mountains. The moon cannot have all the same temperature, , because ,just like the Earth, the whole surface cannot face the sun at the same time.

    • Samara says:

I claim the main physical features are rilles, highlands, maria, craters, rays, and lunar regolith. My evidence is rilles are long, narrow depressions in the moon’s surface. Marias are dark plains made of basalt from quickly cooling lava. Craters are cup-shaped depressions on the moon’s surface. Highlands are igneous rock from quickly cooling lava. Rays are bright streaks that form around craters. Lunar regolith is a fine layer of dust on the moon’s surface.

  9. Kyleisha says:

The moon has a side that is mountainous and a side that is smooth, the smoother side is facing us The moon also orbits the Earth.

    • Kyleisha says:

The moon has features such as maria, lunar regolith, craters, rilles, and highlands. Lunar regolith is a layer of soil on the surface of the moon. Maria is darker spots on the moon that contain basalts. Craters are smaller darker spots. Sun light hits the moon at different angles as well.

  10. Eben says:

The moon is just a rock covered in dust that orbits around the earth. The moons landscape is is just dust, large rocks, and creators. The moon is the reason why the oceans are able to support large waves

    • Eben says:

I claim that there are a lot of features to the moon. My evidence is that the moon has highlands, craters, rays, rilles, maria, and lunar regolith. The moon also has different phases, because of the moon orbiting the earth all the time, the moon changes the amount of sunlight it reflects. The moon can be easy to see because of the whole side facing earth is reflecting sunlight, or it can be hard to see because the opposite side of the moon is reflecting sunlight. When you cant see the moon that means the moon is between the earth and the sun.

  11. Shae says:

The moon, contrary to popular belief, is not made of cheese. It is made of a mishmash of elements, including iron, silicon, and calcium, which is in cheese. It has two sides, one mostly flat, and the other with craters and peaks. On the moon there are darker and lighter spots, with the darker spots being lava floes.

    • Shae says:

I claim that the moon, along with having a bunch of minerals, also has a bunch of landforms. Some of these are maria (the plural of mare), large black plains made from past lava flows, and others are highlands, which are like hills or mountains. There are also rilles, which are similar to earth’s faults, and are long trench-like structures. Rays are bright streaks coming from craters, some over 1850 miles long. And that leads me to craters, which are similar to valleys and most likely caused by volcanic eruption and asteroid impact.

  12. maddox says:

I claim that the earth’s moon physical appearance is there is craters in the moon’s surface and the side facing us is very smooth and the side facing away from us is very mountainous. The colors of the moon are grey and certain areas are black.

    • Maddox says:

I claim that the earth’s physical appearance is there because of craters caused by volcanoes and meteors. There are also Maria’s which are very dark and flat. Rilles are basically shallow valleys or trenches. Highlands which are like tall hills. The low gravity and the cold on the moon make it so there is no life on it.

  13. Frank says:

Some of the moon’s features are the light side and dark side light side is smooth and dark side is hills and mountains “highlands”. One other Feature is that their is a human footprint on the light side and a american flag.

    • Frank says:

I claim that the features of the moon are the highlands and the hill sides it also has the lava flowing. Some of the other features would be we have been to the moon and left the flag. others would have been craters, rays, maria, and rilles.

  14. Robert says:

I claim that the moon is a giant meteor which was probably gonna collide into earth but something got in front of it and collide into it, now it just stays still and the moon just goes around the earth and make it dark.

    • Robert says:

The moon goes through a shape called the lunar cycle it makes the moon look different by making the moon into a shape as a toenail, or it makes the moon into a circle. The moon has these features called moon rays, riles, highlands, maria, lunar regolith, and craters. The moon ray are bright streaks that form around the craters. The riles are long narrow depression on the moon’s surface

  15. briar says:

I claim that on the moon there is a front and backside. The front side is smooth and light. While The backside is hilly and dark. There are big black holes or spots that we can see from earth.

    • briar says:

I claim that the moon goes through different phases were it gets more full and then less full. The side that faces us is the smooth side. The backside is made up of highlands which are rocky and hilly. Moon craters are believed to have been formed from lava flow. Marias are the darker spots on the moon, they are said to be formed from volcanic activity.

  16. Kiara says:

The features on the moon are bright grey/white and their can be some dark grey craters around the moon. The moon orbits around the Earth which shows the smooth side while the other side is like a mountain.

    • Kiara says:

I claim that the moon had craters, highlands, marias, moon rays and some other features. My evidence is that marias are large dark spots on the moon. Highlands are high areas of the moon, craters are the smaller dark spots, moon rays are the bright streaks you can see around the craters. We have also used posters to give us information of the moon features.

  17. daniel says:

Some features of the moon is that it has a lite and dark side, craters all over, and it orbits the earth.

    • daniel says:

I claim that some of the features of the moon are that it has a light and dark side, craters all over, and it orbits the earth. It has features on it like rilles that are long, narrow depressions in the surface of the Moon. Highlands that are the lighter parts of the moon. Maria that are large dark areas on Moon formed by basalts made by ancient volcanic eruptions. Moon rays that are bright streaks around craters that help show the impact sites.

  18. Chello says:

It has two different sides a front and back the front is smooth while the back has craters and is rocky and very mountainous. the planet’s atmosphere itself has low gravity and it does not have a sky like ours which is clear to see from pictures as you can see space with no blue sky or clouds to block your vision.

  19. Aurora says:

The moon has large craters, the moon color is grey sometimes it can appear white. One side appears smooth and light and the other side is dark and hilly like.

    • Aurora says:

Some of the moon’s features are moon rays, rilles, highland, crates, lunar regolith, and maria. Moon rays are bright streaks that have formed around the crates, the moon rays make it easier to see where the impact was made from the meteor. The long narrow depressions are called rilles and they are on the moon’s surface. Composed of indigenous rocks and are lighter areas on the moon are called highlands, debris that usually came from the asteroid belt and hit the moon at a high speed have made craters. A fine layer of soil from the moon’s surface is called lunar regolith, composed by basalts from volcanic activity on the moon and are darker parts of the moon are called maria.

  20. Kashauna says:

I claim that the moon has craters. One side of the moon is very smooth, while the other is very mountainous. The moons orbits the earth everyday.

  21. Cade says:

Some of the features of our moon are amazing. Our moon may not be a peace of cheese but it is still cool. Some or our moon’s features are: there are two sides of our moon, one of the sides is smooth and has craters but the other side is basically all mountains. One more cool feature is that the lack of erosion all of the dirt and sand is supper sharp There are many more cool features of our moon.

    • Cade says:

The Earth’s moon may not be made of cheese but it has many cool features. Some of the cool features of the moon are…
Our moon has “dark spots”(maria) which are evidence of volcanic activity. There are also craters on our moon. These are evidence of objects at high velocity hitting the moon. One last feature of our moon are rilles. Rilles are long and narrow trenches that run along the moon.

  22. Conner says:

I claim that the moon is a barren chunk of rock. It is not as some people would like you to believe made of dairy aka cheese. The moon also has several craters possibly caused by meteors. The moon has a visible side and a dark side which is speculated to be mountainous and rocky. The visible side however is smooth and dusty.

    • Conner says:

I claim that some features of the moon are moon rilles which are long narrow depressions and moon rays are light streaks around craters. Moon marias are dark splotches on the moon caused by basalt from ancient volcanic eruptions. Another feature of the moon is a set of footprints and an American flag left by Neil Armstrong an American astronaut in 1969.

  23. glenn says:

The moon is smooth on one side and the other side is mountainous. Many meteorites have hit the moon causing many craters. There’s been evidence of frozen water on the moon. The moon rotates around the earth.

  24. Gaven says:

The features of the moon are that one side is smooth while the other side is mountainous. The craters on the moon were caused by meteorites. Another feature is that the moon orbits around the earth.

  25. Elijah says:

The moon has many large craters, as well as a mountainous side. We have travelled to the side without mountains.

  26. Amaryllis says:

There are many feature on the moon, such as craters which are bowl-like shapes on the surface of the moon. There is also maria which are flat, dark, basaltic plains caused by ancient volcanic eruptions. Another is lunar regolith which is a loose soil covering most of the surface of the moon.

  27. Mya says:

I claim that the moon has many features like craters and maria’s and rallies, Craters can be from impacts from meteorites, A maria is a large dark basaltic formed by ancient volcanic eruptions. Rallies are long narrow depressions in the surface of the moon that look like channels. My evidence is from the posters we studied and a discussion we had in class.

  28. cyrus says:

I claim that the features of the moon consist of craters, highlands, rilles, maria. Craters are bowl shaped cavities on the moon surface. Rilles which are long valleys on the moon and high lands are the light colored non mare reagins of the moon. The mare regions of the moon that are dark or shaded are called mare

  29. Elijah says:

The moon has many exclusive features not present on earth. One example is Maria, the dark parts of the moon we sometimes see. They are dark because they were created by ancient volcanic eruptions, and have cooled into basalt. Highlands are more elevated than other parts of the moon. The moons large craters were most likely created by meteorites long ago.

  30. Josh G. says:

Our moon has 6 major surface features; Craters, Highlands, Lunar regoliths, Marias, Rays, and Rilles’. Craters are giant bowl shaped dips in the moon’s surface. Highlands are large areas of mountains that are much higher than the areas around them. Rilles’ are long, narrow depressions in the moon’s surface that go much deeper than the top soil, (also known as lunar regolith. Marias are large dark spots on the moon caused by volcanic eruptions. Last is rays. Rays are bright lines on the moon’s surface formed around craters, all pointing away from the center of the crater.

  31. Aji says:

I claim that the moon features has, craters, highlands, maria, and lunar regolith. The moon has different phases too, because of the orbiting of the earth, theres a change in the amount of sunlight it reflects. the moon cycle takes 29.5 days to complete, and there is many different shapes it could make including full, new, gibbous, and, crescent.

  32. Vaeh says:

The feature of the moon are fantastic! Space is just glorious in general but lets focus on the moon. I claim that the moon has many layers, we tend to focus on the side of the moon we see the most the (front) side, this side of the moon is smooth with lots of craters, the far side is mountainous and the two different sides don’t look the same. North and South poles help our earth too. If we no longer had the moon, we wouldn’t have tide changes because of the gravity on the poles. Our moon is made of many different chemical elements mostly iron, which is similar to our surface also.

    • Vaeh says:

I claim that the moon’s features contain much more than my last post, I had learned the darker spots on the Moon are called Maria (Mah- ree- ah) and the craters were formed from past volcanic eruptions and possibly debris hitting the moon. Although the one side of the moon that doesn’t face us is much more different than the other side of the moon which is smooth and with lots of craters, the other side of the moon is very dark and mountainous, I’d very much like to learn a lot more about it. Some other features of the moon of what I learned are about the moon’s highlands, these highlands are light colored, with lots of craters and no maria. Some other features of the moon are Rilles, which are any long or narrow trenches or valleys, Lunar regolith is another “feature” it is a layer of dust or debris covering the entire surface of the moon. The North and South poles of the moon seem to be heavily cratered judging from the detailed pictures of the moon. Some cool elements on the moon’s surface are again, iron, silicon, magnesium and of course oxygen! I learned much about the moon and its features but what about the interior of the moon? I know that it has layers like our Earth it has the crust, mantle and core. I know that the core contains of iron but that’s all I know, I’d like to learn more about this!

  33. grace says:

The moon has grey and white spots. Some spots are smooth and some spots are rough with equators. The moon also has a big effect on the gravitational pull in the solar system.

  34. chello says:

I claim that along with what I stated before the earths moon also features a lunar cycle in which it circles the earth and physically to go more in-depth with what I said before. One side of the moon is smooth with a maria, moon rays, and riles.
On the other side it features a highland, lunar regolith, and craters.

Maria – A lunar maria is a dark spot on the moon which is left by past volcanic activity.

Moon ray – the moons moon rays are beams of light that are emitted by the moon.

Rilles – the moons rilles are grooves that are thought to be lava channels or collapsed lava tubes that are no longer needed.

Lunar highlands – lunar highlands are a term for the lighter bodies of land that cover most of the moon.

Lunar regolith – lunar regolith is a term used for the dust that covers the moon which consist of dust, soil, broken rock, and other related materials and is present on Earth so it is not completely foreign.

Craters – moon craters are large depressions made from debris that fell from its atmosphere.
