  1. Will Carver says:

types of land forms are like continents or islands, which are made from a series of volcanoes springing up in the middle of the ocean and then the lava cooling into igneous rock which becomes sediment, which becomes more, and more rock over thousands of millions of ears and “poof” you have a land form.

All kinds of things can cause erosion, only two of them being wind and water. other causes could be lava(or magma), or animal(human) erosion.

  2. Payton says:

I kinda don’t know what land forms are but I think I have a idea. I think land forms are made by the plates maybe? Like the grow together sorta and the go to each other and maybe that’s how.
    1. Grounds
    ^Like I said I’m not sure.
And now erosion, I think it’s like a volcono. Like it blows up, maybe not big, maybe not small but into something. I think also that it doesn’t have to be in a volcono. It could be something else. Like pop, sometimes when you put something in it it could erosion.

    • Payton says:

I’ve learned a lot about landforms and erosion and some new stuff about it. Some my thoughts before were wrong but that’s okay. So what I learn now. I thought before that landforms before was just the ground but really it’s valley’s, delta’s, canyon’s, river’s and things like those. Those are landforms. So pretty much what a land form is it’s like a natural feature of the earth’s surface. a erosion can happen by volcanos cause there is some stuff happening inside the volcanos and makes it erosion. Such as glaciers for a example they erosion a lot. We watch a video not that long ago and it showed how it was moving! I thought that was so cool and i enjoy it a lot. But it can happen by scare away the sediment and the ice starts pushing.

  3. Kaydon says:

Landforms are things like volcanoes, mountains, lakes, and harbors. Just like our previous investigation the tectonic plate moving cause many of these landforms to form like mountains and hills. Also erosion by water can form other landforms like valleys and canyons. Erosion can occur from weathering things like rain, wind, and natural disasters.

    • Kaydon says:

More examples of landforms are karst, rivers, glacier landforms, bays, deltas, oceans, oxbow-lakes, and canyons. Most of the time landforms are caused by erosion and erosion is the breaking or wearing away of things like landforms by things like wind and water. An example of erosion is a glacier and that can erode and deposit sediment and landforms.

  4. Mikey says:

Harbors, bays, are two of many land forms. They are both formed when water runs against them and creates a hole that water flows in to it when it is big.

    here are Some thing wind,water,rain,hail.

    • Payton says:

Nice! But like do you know how erosion works now? I know this is from awhile go but I hope you know what it is by now. 🙂 Any who erosion like think about it like the glaciers we been learning. Erosion by glacier is when the ice started pushing on the glacier or it starts to scrape away the sediments such as those but I don’t the harbors are landforms but bays are! But I’m really not sure so don’t take my word for it. I also liked how you describe how it works.

  5. Karlye says:

Im not positive but I think landforms are different types of land such as mountains, islands, or canyons. I think that landforms are made when two plates collide creating a type of landform.
I know that many things can cause erosion, such as rain, wind, earthquakes, or volcano eruptions. I myself do not know a ton of ways it can be caused but I do know that there are many ways for it to occur.

    • Karlye says:

Following up on my past response, I now know much more information on landforms. In this investigation we learned about many different landforms such as mountains, valleys, rivers, bays, deltas, and canyons. We went into deep conversations about rivers in specific. Before this lesson I had no knowledge on how rivers form and what causes the shape to be different in every river, however now I have all the information I need to teach a class of my own! I know that rivers form and shape due to erosion and deposition. When the currents of the water “bounce” off of the sides the of the river, the side erodes causing an indent into the side of the river, then the current causes it to do the same to the other side and the process continues throughout the length of the river.
Erosion can be caused by many different forces, one main force would be water currents. Water currents can wear away rocks and the sides of the river.

    • Anna says:

Karlye, to be honest it seems like you knew some stuff about this and thats really good! I was wondering on why you thought that all landforms are caused by colliding plates. You did very well with what erodes at things!

  6. mason says:

examples of land forms would be mountains, volcanos, bays, etc… these are made by tectonic plates and erosion . erosion can be caused by different things such as wind and rain the bay can be left there from the ice age and the ice melted and left a crater that filled with water.

    • willthecarver says:

actually its: volcanoes valleys karst caves mountains hoodoos(yes thats a thing) glacier landforms bays deltas oceans lakes oxbo-lakes canyons and plateaus.

  7. Adam says:

I think that erosions could be caused by anything really. It could be an earthquake,a tornado,or even a tiny little wave.
I am not really sure ow landforms occur.I am assuming though, that they are caused by water,or like a natural disaster or something. At least that makes the most sense to me.

  8. David says:

Examples of landforms include mountains, valleys, canyons, and plateaus (there are a lot more). Landforms are physical features that involve land or rocks. They can by formed through erosion and tectonic activity. The Grand Canyon for instance is caused by a river, which eroded and is still eroding the land which formed the canyon. Mountains and volcanoes and other landforms can be formed through tectonic activity, or plates converging. I think the main forces of erosion are water, wind, and human activity.

  9. luke says:

Landforms are islands, mountains,Harbors, bays, gulfs are all different types of land forms that helps the environments and also help people live in certain areas of the world and helps us find new ecosystems and life in the world that we live in the world and there is still more new animals to find two.

  10. Kenyon Burris says:

i believe that volcanos as the erupt or spurring up and it creates new landforms and they are mountains volcanos lakes they eroded when water greats ran on top of them over and over and its always like that like streams for example they or rapids continues to run on top of rocks and other landforms.

  11. mya d says:

A landform is a island or continent, they’re made from volcanos erupting in the ocean and the lava cools and turns into sediment then after years and years it builds up to form a island.

wind or water can cause erosion.

  12. Jayson says:

    mountains, plateaus, plains, and hills

  13. Josh says:

A land form might be a ridge around a river, a sand bar, or a volcano and thats pretty much all I know about land forms.

  14. Carlito says:

Examples of landforms are mountains, volcanoes. Oh, WELL, YOU SEE, it is made from tectonic plates. Oceans can cause erosion.

  15. Jayson says:

Tectonic plates movement under the Earth can create landforms pushing up mountains and hills.

  16. ayanna says:

the land broke of by and erosion and a volcano went with it. the volcano kept erupting over the years and the island grew.

  17. Alera says:

Examples of a landform is Mountains, Plateaus, Plains, and Hills. Landforms are Physical Features. They can be formed through tectonic activity. For example, the Grand Canyon was formed by a river, and Sediment erodes to make Sediment Rock. Human activity and the weather elements make up Erosion.

  18. nick says:

landforms are mountains, plateaus, plains and hills. Landforms are created by pushing up mountains and hills both processes happen over a long period of time, sometimes a million years. erosion: wind, water, and ice when water flows and moves heavily, it can cause soil erosion.

  19. Jayson says:

Water, Wind, and Ice creates erosions

  20. George says:

lakes, rivers, oceans, valleys, mountains and deltas are all landforms that are formed overtime but are formed by different forces like water and wind.

  21. Kaid H. says:

Here is a list of some landforms and how they are created.
•Valley: Usually, valleys are made by a glacier that moved through an area of land that used to be a plain. •Delta: Deltas are created when deposition takes place at the end of a river causing little mounds of dirt to make little channels that the water escapes from. •Hoodoos: Hoodoos are made when a mound of compacted rock gets eroded by wind to the point where it is only a spire of rock in the desert. Of course there are may more landforms that are out there. Some forces of erosion are wind, ice, water, chemicals, etc.

    • Cameron Brown says:

Kaid I really like how you are being really specific and i learned a little more by reading your comment.

  22. Cameron Brown says:

The examples of landforms i know best are Glaciers, Volcanos, Rivers the Glacier is made up from chunks of snow and ice and it forms together and becomes a great big glacier. Volcanos are made up when two plates come together and one goes over on another and forms a mountain which is a volcano then magma comes up the cracks that are made when the plates come together. I think that is what the volcano is made of. Rivers have flowing water and animals in there but people polluted there garbage into the rivers and all of that could kill the animals in that river. The glaciers could cause erosion because how much the ice and snow is which could cause erosion because of how big it is. The volcanos could cause erosion by building up to much magma and it builds up way to much and could erupt. Rivers could cause erosion by building up to much water and could break down rocks and anything else. This is all i know of landforms well some and im pretty sure i am wrong but at least i tried

  23. Anna says:

There are many different landforms some of the ones we have talked about are…
    – Karst Caves, karst caves are created when acid erodes away at limestone underground and causes sink holes.
    – Glaciers, glaciers are made when snow flakes start rounding then they go together making snowballs called Firn, then the firn undergoes a ton of pressure and it is the called glacier ice!
    – Deltas, deltas are made when the eroded sediment from rivers deposit at the end of the river making little channels and landforms called a delta.
    – Oxbow Lakes, oxbow lakes are created when a curvy river decides to take a new path and the curves of the river becomes a little horse show shape of water.

Many forces can cause erosion, a few are…
-Water, water repeatedly pounds an landforms causing the rocks and sediment to wear away.
    – Wind, wind does a similar thing as water the wind blows and breaks sediments and rocks down.

    • Karlye says:

Wow, you have learned a lot throughout this investigation! I love how you included a good amount of examples and on each example you explained how it is created. Great job Anna!

  24. Mya L. says:

Volcanoes and mountains are formed by convergent tectonic plates, plates that move towards each other. Deltas are formed by rivers changing directions multiple times and rivers are formed by water eroding the earth around it. Chemicals, plants, humans, other rocks/sediment, rivers, and animals can all cause erosion. Chemicals, like acid rain, can melt buildings, plants can grow in cracks in pavement or other rock, and rocks can knock against other rocks in the process of deposition.

  25. Rosey says:

An example of a landform would be Mountains, Canyons, Rivers, Bays, Deltas and Lakes. These Landforms were mainly formed due to the start of tectonic plates causing land to shape in different ways for example when tectonic plates collide together mountains will form and from that precipitation will stream down the mountain forming streams and rivers and then more landforms will form like delta and bays. Deposition and erosion also play a factor in making land forms like deltas, canyons, oxbow lakes, and valleys this is because the erosion can happen by wind, water, and other natural forces which will cause the land forms to abrade and wear away slowly changing it into a new landform.

  26. Isaac says:

Some examples of landforms are volcanoes, valleys, rivers, oceans, and lakes. Landforms form gradually overtime through erosion and deposition. A few causes of erosion are wind, water, abrasion, and glaciers.

  27. samantha rudnick says:

volcanos, valleys, karst caves, mountains, glacier landforms, rivers, bays, oceans, lakes,ox bow lakes, canyons, hoodoos, plateaus, delta these are examples of landforms.one example is how deltas form.deltas are formed from the sediment moving down the river to a closed of spaced which is called a delta. valcanos, karst caves, moutins, glacier landforms, canyons are all can cause erosion.

  28. mya d says:

2 types of landforms are continents and islands they’re made form volcanos that pop up in the middle of the ocean when they erupt the magma melts turns into igneous rock, then sediment that keeps building up and it turns into a landform.

Many things can cause erosion like glaciers, animals, humans and wind and water.

  29. David says:

Examples of landforms are rivers, deltas, volcanoes, mountains, sinkholes, and oxbow lakes. They can be made through cycles of erosion and deposition, Forces of erosion are water, (like a glacier causing friction or abrasion to rocks, called plucking), wind and tectonic activity. For example the water from a river can erode a side of the river and turn the rock into sediment, yet the other side can be deposited into (which is how rivers curve).

    • David says:

Also more forces of erosion can be chemical, like acid rain which dissolves rocks, and is caused through chemicals that go into the atmosphere, then coming down with the rain.

  30. kenyon says:

some land forms are glaciers, volcanoes, rives, deltas …ect, They are all made from being erosed in a way to get they’re shape some things that cause erosion is wind and water running or raming into sides or across them.

    • Alera says:

Kenyon, I agree with some of the landforms you mentioned, but it’s not just Erosion that land gets its’ shape from, Deposition can also occur too. For example, a glacier, when a glacier moves down a slope, it scrapes anything along the sides and carries them down. It then deposits anything somewhere new. Global Climate change, or Global Warming, will affect how the glacier will look, it warms the glacier and it melts, turning into water.

  31. Vinny says:

Some examples of landforms are volcanoes, mountains, glaciers, and rivers. Forces that cause erosion are deltas, because when a delta erodes it brings sediment with it and it deposits down at the bottom, and that can cause an oxbow lake.

  32. Carlito says:

Examples of landforms are Volcanoes, Glaciers, Sink Holes, Mountains, Deltas, Rivers, Floodplain. How they could be made is from abrasion, erosion, and deposition. What forces can cause erosion is like, for example, a Glacier hitting or sliding across another glacier or mountain eroding it. Abrasion occurring when they are making contact and moving broken off pieces to another place.

  33. Josh says:

A landform that we have studied a lot are rivers. Rivers are formed when water erodes a path down and the water follows it. At the end of rivers are deltas, deltas are formed by the deposited sediments that the river carried down from the source to the mouth.

    • Carlito says:

A river is a landform, so are deltas. That is also how it is formed. But are there any other landforms you know and how they are formed? Bet not😉😁

      • Josh says:

Some other land forms that I know are volcanoes, glaciers, oxbow lakes, sink holes, and mountains. They are all formed by erosion, deposition or tectonic plates slamming into each other.

    • Will W. says:

Do you have anything to say about the other landforms and the other kinds of erosion?

  34. Alera says:

Based on the information that I have now, landforms consist of deltas, mountain ranges, plateaus, plains, hills, bays, canyons, etc. And the reason for that is because of Erosion and/or Deposition. Erosion happens when land is eroded away by something, for example, water. Deposition is sediment or rock that is being deposited into a lake, river, or a body of water.

    • Violet says:

I understand your point but how big are the rocks or how big can they get like are they small or big or normal size type of rocks?

  35. Ayanna says:

Examples of landforms are glaciers, volcanos, rivers, deltas, oxbow lakes, sink holes, and mountains. Many things erode them such as rain, glaciers, wind, abrasion, and animals. Animals can dig holes through dirt or glaciers and use them as homes. Rain can slowly erode little pieces that get chipped of and then the get deposited somewhere else. This is deposition. Deposition is when something gets picked up by something else and is moved along and left somewhere else.

  36. Will W. says:

Examples of landforms are volcanos, glaciers, rivers, oxbow lakes, and mountains.
Volcanos are made when two water gets to the mantle and the mantle melts and it goes up. Glaciers are frozen water. Oxbow lakes are formed when rivers curve too much and it breaks off at that point and separates from the river. Mountains are formed when plates smash into each other.
Forces that can cause erosion are water and wind. (there are more.)

  37. Jerricho says:

Some land form’s we learned about are Volcanoes, River, Deltas, Oxbow lakes, Sink holes, Mountains, and Glaciers. I don’t know how they are made but I know it takes many years to be made. Many things cause erosion like chemical weathering with acid rain, physical weathering caused by normal rain and biological weathering done by animals.

  38. Violet says:

I’ve learned that landforms are volcanoes, rivers, deltas mountains and they can formed by abrasion, colliding tectonic plates, melting glacier. Forces that can cause erosion are waves (from oceans, bays, deltas, streams, and lakes),pressure(from opposing forces, and making of glaciers) and heat that can cause erosion.

  39. Jayson Berg says:

Lots of snow falls because it Compacting into Ice by Frozen water. The causes of erosion is melting at the base that erode the bedrock.

  40. luke says:

Landforms and erosions happen when glaciers and volcanos started to erupt and moving against the surface and eroded the sedimentary rock and volcanos made igneous rock and the glaciers made deltas and rivers and oxbow lakes and mountains and sink holes natural happen when sink holes happens when chemicals weathering happens underneath the ground and it takes years and it just happens like light and you don’t know until it happens mountains happen when plates meet and it forms. Global climate change happen to erosion happen.

  41. Marissa😀 says:

Some examples of landforms are glaciers, floodplains, oxbow lakes, and rivers, lakes, mountains, volcanoes, sinkholes, etc.
Sinkholes were formed by Karst Topograpy which is a network of tunnels underground that can cause the ground to become weak and then a sinkhole suddenly appears. A sinkhole is a perfect circular hole that suddenly appears in the ground.
Wind, water, glaciers, and living things are forces that can cause erosion.

  42. nick says:

Glaciers are formed from a lot of snow then compacted into solid ice. The base of the glaciers gets warmer and melts causing the glaciers rocks to fall off of it.
