I know about the moon cause it’s like the big gray ball shape thing. I think the moon is bigger than the earth? I’m not really sure. It has like I don’t know how big the holes are in it but I know there are some holes in it. I also know the someone went on the moon before and I really don’t know that much about the the relationship between the earth and the moon. All I know at night it gives up some light from the moon at dark.

    • Payton says:

I learn a lot more about the moon ever since I learned about it and to be honest I really enjoyed it. I liked learning about the moon a lot more than I thought I would. It’s very interesting. I know how many days the moon spins around the earth, and the maria’s I think how you spell them and 17% of the moon is covered by those. The relationship between the earth and the moon is that the moon makes tides in the earth and the it gets dark the moon helps gives us light so it ain’t like pitch black? Weird right? But I think that’s very cool. I also learn that the moon is a lot smaller than the earth.

  2. Anna says:

I know basically nothing about the moon , but I do know that it appears to have features of a face on it. I also know that the moon has little crater type things. The moon and earth have a connection because the moon orbits the earth. I was wondering what makes the moon appear to light up and when there is a half moon or quarter moon why is that the only part to glow?

    • Anna says:

I learned that the reason the moon lights up is not because it creates it’s own light but because it reflects the su’s light. When only portions of the moon show up it’s because the Earth casts a shadow on the moon. Depending on the position of the moon and Earth is what makes the 8 phases. The lunar cycle takes approximately 29.53 day to complete it’s self and start again.

  3. Isaac says:

The Earths moon orbits Earth and is what allows it to have eclipses. The moon is also covered in craters, and acts as a permanent satellite for Earth.

    • Isaac says:

Earths Moon also effects Earth by changing the tides from low to high or high to low. The Moon phases are made/changed by how the Sun’s light reflects off Earth’s Moon while it orbits around Earth.

  4. nataie says:

i know that the moon(m) is a star ( according to a very reliable source.😳) and i know that it leaves during th e night time Th. the earth id moving. the moon has craters and its grey . relationship is that it controls gravity .

  5. Karlye says:

I do not know much about the moon, but I know what it is. The moon is so called a rock in the atmosphere, many people believe that the moon use to be part of the Earth and now its just a giant rock in space. Also you are unable to see the moon during the daytime because of the time between day and night, its kind of confusing to explain but the whole orbit system has a span of things everything does every 24 hours, the moon has a continuous route everyday. The moon has a few different features, one of its main features are the craters. The relationship between the Earth and moon is simple and complicated at the same time, the Moon is what lignts up the dark nights on Earth.

    • Karlye says:

Compared to before, I realize I really didn’t have much knowledge about the moon. But now that I have learned more I know that the moon is a major factor in space. The moon does not produce it’s own light, it really just reflects sunlight. The reason why the moon has phases is because of the shadow that the Earth casts onto the moon, the moon isn’t literally “half a moon” it just has a certain shadow casting on the moon causing it to look black. Another major factor of the moon is its gravitational pull that it has on the Earth, with its gravitational pull it keeps in orbit with the Earth and causes tides to rise. The way that it causes tides to rise is when the gravitational pull “pulls” the ocean level upward and the the ocean tides rise… at this same time on the opposite side of the world, the tides are also rising because the whole Earth is being pulled upward causing the ocean levels to move down, which is actually up (its hard to explain).

  6. samantha rudnick says:

i know that the moon is in outer space and the comes up when the sun goes down then the moon goes down and the sun comes up then the moon goes up some place else. from pictures that i have seen i’ve have heard that the moon looks like a peaces cheese with hole in it or little round circles indents. i also known that the moon lights up the earth at night and keeps it somewhat cool at night.

    • samantha rudnick says:

i learned thst the moon has 8 phase and the moon also cause the high tides in the ocean and that the moon is always circling the earth.

  7. Kaydon says:

You can see the moon once the sun sets and disappears once the sun comes back up. The moon has craters and those are the huge potholes on the moon, it is gray and white. The moon is very close to earth compared to the sun and it pops up and disappears just like the sun. How close is the moon to earth? You can see the moon and sun at the same time because the earth hasn’t moved far enough for the moon to not be in your view. The earth rotates in a circle so it takes it 24 hours to rotate 360 degrees and that’s why the moon disappears and comes back into view.

    • Kaydon says:

The moon has 8 phases new moon, waxing crescent, gibbous, 1st quarter, full moon, waning crescent, gibbous, and 3rd quarter. These phases are caused by the sun. The sun and moon can cause the tides to be high or low because of their gravitational pull. I also know that the moon doesn’t give off light of it’s own, but it’s actually the reflection of the sun.
Joke: Why is the moon so sad? Because it’s shoe is unTIDE

  8. Mya L. says:

I don’t know much about the moon but i do know that the moon controls earths’ tides. The moon has craters and looks grey. The earth gets light from the moon at night.

    • Mya L. says:

I learned that the moon’s gravity controls earth’s tides. The reason for this is that while the moon has gravity it doesn’t have a lot, just enough to pull the oceans causing tides. The moon reflects the suns light, it doesn’t illuminate itself the moon creates no light. The moon has acquired it’s craters because of asteroids, meteors, etc.

  9. nataie says:

i know that the moon(m) is a star ( according to a very reliable source.😳) and i know that it leaves during the night time. the moon has craters and its grey . relationship is that it controls gravity .

    • natalie says:

i know that that the moon is very valuable and that it even controls the tides. it has craters that come from comets and astroids crashing into it. it doesn’t make its own light it reflects the suns. it controls some of the gravirty

  10. Lizzie says:

The moon is about 4.4 billion years old. Meteoroids strike the Moon at high speeds creating craters, there are many hundreds of craters on the moon. Its comes up at night. A relationship between the Earth and the moon would be the moon’s gravity pulling at the Earth causing sea levels to rise and fall. Why do we need a moon?

    • Lizzie says:

The moon is always in the sky you just don’t see it until it reflects the sunlight.
To answer my own question Why do we need a moon? We need a moon because it creates tides which can create a tidal ecosystem. We can also see at night (unless its a new moon) because the moon reflects the suns light, this can create moon phases. There are eight moon phases ( new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, Waning Gibbous, third quarter, waning crescent) the moon phases repeat ever 29.5 days.

  11. Cameron Brown says:

Something I know about the moon is that it is grey and round and it gives up light when it gets dark out sometimes the moon is full but not full at all. Why is that? I also know that there are holes and it is really dark up there well not fully dark there is some light and that there is not much oxygen up there for people to breath so thats why astronauts wear those suits. Also i heard from my last science teacher at my other school that there is low gravity and you have to jump instead of walking. That is all i know but i would like to learn more about it.

    • cameron brown says:

I know the moon does not creates its own light it reflects off the suns light and it it gravtational pull causes the tides to react. Its relationship with the earth would be some gravity and its helps the eco system. it helps the eco system by the animals that live in the high tides.

  12. Priscilla says:

The moon is in constant rotation around the Earth and I think that same side the moon is always facing the Earth. When there is a full moon, the moon is directly across the sun with the Earth is located in between them. I don’t really know that much about the moon expect for its cycle.

    • Priscilla says:

I always knew that the Moon had craters but I didn’t know that they were caused by meteoroids, asteroids, and comets. The Moon doesn’t have an atmosphere. When the Moon has a shadow across it and it is growing, the means the moon is “waning” when it had a shadow that will continue to become thinner, the moon is “waxing”. The moons rays are the materials that have distributed off of the surface when an objects impacts the moon, it appears to look like a beam. The moons maria is the dark shadows across the dark side of the Moon. The earths tides are caused by the moons gravitational pull. There is two high tides and two low tides a day.

  13. hailey says:

All I know is that the moon has some dark gray spots on it and you only
see it at night mostly.. The moon is like kind of dented where the darker spots
are and also a lot of astronauts visited the moon sometime ago. I don’t really know how the Earth and the Moon are related to each other but you do see
    the moon every night.

    • Hailey says:

I learned that the moon is filled with craters and it has 8 moon phases
that it goes through. The Earth has tides, so when the moon circles around
the Earth it show low tides and high tides. You sometime see the moon at night
and sometimes there are new moons.

  14. Samantha says:

The moon is also known as Luna. Astronomers believe that the moon came from an astroid hitting the Earth and the moon went into space. It orbits the Earth because the earths gravity is pulling it towards earth, and the moon is also trying to like go somewhere else. The moon doesn’t produce light, it reflects the light from the sun. The shadow things are shadows from the earth.

  15. Rosey says:

I only know a few things about the moon, I know that the Moon is a huggeee sphere made of rock and is millions of miles away from where I am, Planet earth. the moon has certain Features like being super bright on one side and dark on the other this is why on certain days of the month you will see a crescent of the moon or half of the moon. The moon also has a bumpy surface from what I have seen on TV shows or pictures it just doesn’t look to have a flat round surface it looks to be a little bumpy. There is only one relationship that I currently know about the moon and earth which would be that the moon provides our earth gravity so we aren’t floating everywhere like we would be if we were in space but In all honesty I don’t know how it works.

    • Rosey says:

Now that I’ve done an entire investigation on the moon Ive learned a Looootttt The moon has 0% of its own light yet why does it still look like its shinning? Well this is because the moon is reflecting the suns light but its only reflecting 50% of the suns light the eather side of the moon isnt reflecting any, this is why we get to see 8 diffrent phases of the moon which are: The new moon which from earth is just a full black moon we litteraly cant see the moon at all this happens because the moon is directly in front of the earth and sun causing us to not see the moon reflecting the sun, The second phases is waxing cresent this is when we can only see a sliver of the moon reflecting the sun, the third phase is first quarter when we only see half of the moon reflecting, then we have the fourth phase, the waxing gibbous which is more than a quarter reflecting, next would be the full moon which is when the moon is behind the earth and we can see the full half that is being reflected. Finally we have the waning gibbous, third quarter, and waning crescent which are the opposites of the first three quarters. Ive also learned that the moon is responsible for creating tides.

  16. Jorge says:

The moon is a planet that orbits the earth. The features the moon has are these craters, I’m not exactly sure how they were formed, I think that maybe asteroids could’ve hit the moon causing these craters.

  17. Kaid H. says:

I know that the moon used to be a part of Earth many years ago that broke off when another meteor hit Earth and a chunk of it flew off and then became the moon. Some of it’s features include craters, a certain arrangement of holes in the moon that look like a face, I’m pretty sure that the moon has little spires every so often on it’s surface. The moon controls the Earth’s tides, so without the moon, there would be no movement in the water of Earth. The moon is also the center of attention when it comes to lunar and solar eclipses. Lunar eclipses are when the moon becomes a crimson color and the other type of eclipse blocks sunlight.

    • Adam says:

I agree, but seriously man, WHERE’D YOU LEARN ALL OF THAT

    • Kaid H. says:

I now know that the Moon causes the tides by the gravity of itself on the Earth. Tides also usually occur around twice a day, but it varies. I also know now that the creatures that live in the tide depend on the Moon for their survival.

  18. will.c says:

the moon is a big shiny ball in the sky and it gets shiny because of the sun and it controls the tides and we like it because it looks cool

    • will.c says:

the moon is a big shiny ball of dust, the dust reflects all the light onto the moon towards the earth and it has fases of the moon because the earth’s shadow sometimes goes over the moon, and the gravity of the moon and sun make the earth’s tides but not tidal waves, those are usually caused by earth quakes. p.s. i’m 15 now (yay!)

  19. Josh says:

The moon is a ball of rock that orbits the earth. It controls things like the weather and the tides and it lights up at night because the light coming from the sun reflects onto the earth. The phases are caused by the earth casting a shadow onto the moon blocking some of it from view at night.

    • ayanna says:

wow… i actually didn’t know that it caused the weather that we have but i knew how the moon phases work. good job “i’m putting my thumb up but there is no emojis on here so thumbs up”

    • Josh says:

After all this I learned that one of the most important things that the moon does is keep the earth in a steady orbit. If the moon was smaller then the earth would slowly go towards the sun. Another thing it causes the tides. The tides create a whole ecosystem.

  20. ayanna says:

The moon is a part of earths rotation. The gravity off of earth pulls the moon so that it stays in orbit with earth. The moon controls the tides on water. When we see the different moon phases it is just because the moon is going around the sun and the shadow that we see changes. There is no sign of life on the moon so far. The moon landing was a huge deal.

  21. mya d. says:

I don’t really know much about the moon, i know it controls the tides and it has craters. I don’t know how the moon and earth are related though.

  22. Vinny says:

The moon is cheese. Well it looks like cheese, but what i know is that the moon is a big ball we see at night along with the white dots in the sky. The moon gets its light from the sun. if the sun was on the left side of the moon it would show that part only. I don’t know about the relationship between the two.

  23. Jerricho says:

The moon is a giant rock in the sky and of the moon were to go away the world would be broke. if we didn’t have the moon we would have no waves no moon light and no werewolves. I also know that we have sent countless space ships to the moon and one of them (apollo 13) made one of my favorite movie Apollo 13 with Tom Hanks.

    • Jerricho says:

I have sadly come to the conclusion that the moon not made out of cheese but is in fact made of rock. I have also learned that the moon does not make waves but makes tides. I have also learned that the moon does not make its own light but reflects the light from the sun and thats what also makes the moon phases.

  24. Will W. says:

The moon orbits around the earth, and the reason the moon shines at night is because the surface reflects the suns light, also the moon causes high tide. The moon has craters in its surface and its a dull gray color. Well like I said the moon orbits the earth, thats there relationship.

    • Will W. says:

I was correct in my knowledge in the Moon and its relationship with earth, but one thing I learned was that the moon helps keep the earth at a safe and steady orbit, and I learned about all the other moon features and its moon phases.

  25. carlito says:

What I know about the moon is that it’s big and sometimes is like a banana shaped thing and comes up at night. I don’t know it’s features. I don’t know if we have a relationship with the moon.

    • Carlito says:

Turns out….. we do have a relationship with the moon because the moon’s gravity is pulling us and creating tides. A moon’s feature is a crater. And the moon reflects light from the sun on to us and the moon has 8 moon phases.

  26. Mason says:

some things that i know about the moon are that it controls earths tide from the moons gravitational pull. I do not know what it is made out of though. something else i know about it is the it has many craters spread out on it and at night the suns light will reflect off of it and bounce onto earth giving earth a little light at night so that it isn’t completely not see your hand in front of your face dark like it is in a dark closet.

    • mason says:

to add on to the previous post i now know that the moon uses its gravitational pull to effect the earths tides on the top and the bottom also the sun does the same thing. it also has 8 different phases it has new moon, cresent, quarter, waxing gibbous, full, waening gibbous, 3 quarter, resent, and restart. it also lights up the night by reflecting the suns light unless it is a new moon then it just controls tides.

  27. David says:

What I know about the moon, is that it orbits the Earth orbits the Sun, which means he moon is not visible all the time. I know it has a very rough and jagged landscape, and can wax or wane, or goes through cycles of being more visible, less visible from the Earth. I am pretty sure this is because of Earths shadow going on to the moon. I also know that the moon determines the tide, or the level height of the water on Earth’s surface, probably because of orbital or gravitational properties. I also know it is smaller than the Earth. The reason why the moon appears to be light (or at least I think why) at night is because the sun’s light would reflect off of the moon, traveling towards earth, appearing bright to us. I also think I know that the moon helps keep the Earth in a stable orbit around the sun.

    • David says:

I was correct about the moon not creating light , and that it helps to create tides, with the sun, and that it helps keep the Earth in a stable orbit around the sun, but I now know that the moon’s phases depend where the moon is in its orbit, and how much of it’s light reflects to the Earth.

  28. olivia says:

The moon is vary important to the Earth. With out the moon we would not have tides. The gravitational pull of the moon is so strong that it creates the tides. Sunlight reflects from the sun and hits the moon and that is why the moon is bright. With out the moon night time would likely be completely dark. The moon is covered in craters (the craters are named, for some reason), and has no gravity and no oxygen. The moon is also much younger and smaller than the Earth.

  29. Violet says:

I know that the moon is a big and some of the features of the moon is that it has craters all over, that there is a dark side to the moon, it helps control the ocean tides, there is no live on the moon, it changes because of how far the moon is away from the Earth, it helps with solar and lunar eclipses. It is made up of grey rock that is smaller than the Earth.

    • Violet says:

I know that the moon is big but smaller than the earth, it also helps with the ocean tides because of the moon’s gravity it helps the tides rise and lower, there is life on the moon but only bacteria, and there is 8 phases of the moon based on were the moon is positioned to the sun and earth but it doesn’t give off any light. It also helps with solar and lunar eclipses.

  30. Alera says:

I do not really know about the Moon. The only specific thing that I know is that the Moon is bigger than the Earth, I think. And the Moon is a big ball of rock composed of gases that orbits Earth. The moon is around 4.4 million years old. I don’t really know the relationship between the Earth and the Moon, but doesn’t the Moon act as a satellite for Earth?

    • Alera says:

I now know more about the Relation within the Moon, Sun, and the Earth. Because of the Sun’s gravitational pull, The Earth is forced to orbit around the Sun and also, because the Earth is much bigger than the Earth, the Moon orbits Earth. If the Earth was to get 2x its’ size, the orbit circle would be huge, and to get smaller, The orbit circle would be like Oval Size. Since the Moon has a gravitational pull too, it pulls the Earth and its’ tides closer, stretching its’ water to be longer, called High Tides. The tides on the side are called Low Tides.

  31. Luke.J.P says:

The Earths travels around the sun at 365.25 days and the moon tavels twice as more around the sun then that wow that really cool and it has cool details to it that makes it so much better to go on there and walk around on it but also we don’t know whats on the other side of the moon and the moon helps us with the wave but i like it how people saw the moon is made out of cheese

  32. Kenyon says:

i down know much about the moon but i know that it goes a round the earth and only a few people have been to the moon it glows at night and there is a lot of craters in it, its very big like huge

  33. Adam says:

For one I know that it is a big gray shiny thing up in the sky. I also know that we have landed on it before, not exactly sure when but I know we did.I also know that it is sometimes a big sphere and sometimes it is a little sliver. Its features though, is what I’m not so sure about, I think that it is very rugged and has a lot of holes in it though, but I’m almost positive that there is no gravity on the moon, so that’s cool. The only thing I know about the relationship of the Earth and the Moon is that on Earth when it is night time, the moon is showing, but when it is day the sun is showing.

    • Adam says:

I have learned a lot about the moon, in this investigation I learned that the moon rotates around the earth and can even control the tides. This was by far my favorite investigation.

  34. Nick says:

What i know about the moon is that its a big round white rock. It sometimes looks different like it could be a quarter moon, half a moon, full moon and changes colors red or orange.

    • Nick says:

Well just only at night is when its white but really its grey and it looks white because of the reflection from the sun i also learned more about the shapes i talked about three weeks ago how the moon orbits the earth and the earth orbits the sun. we also learned about the sun has a lot of mass and the high tides and low tides on the earth.

  35. Jayson berg says:

The moon is made of rock, the data of the moon is they have moon rock all over it, also some man been on the moon for science because of the moon some say that it’s made of cheese but it’s rock like the earth’s rocks, and one more thing is some people will live a flag on the moon so Astronaut’s are on the moon.

    • jayson berg says:

      The moon lessons
      1) We would learn about the moon’s tide and orbit
      2) the only things on the on the moon is the orbit around the earth
      3) marial is like water but not on the moon
      4) the craters are created by volcanic eruptions

      • jayson berg says:

Also marials i know that that the moon is very valuable and that it even controls the tides. it has craters that come from comets and astroids crashing into it. it doesn’t make its own light it reflects the suns. it controls some of the gravirty

  36. Mikey says:

I learned that the moon has many different craters and they all have different names they can be really big or really small. The moon all so controls the tied. they are also different types of moons.

  37. Marissa says:

The Moon, like the Earth, has physical features. One of these features is called maria. Maria are dark spots on the Moon that were caused by ancient lava flows. Another, more common, physical feature is a crater. Craters were caused by meteors or asteroids that struck the moon.
The relationship between the Earth and the Moon goes like this: The moon orbits around the Earth and helps keep Earth’s orbit stable. Because of the angle we are all at with the Moon and Sun, we only sometimes see the Full Moon and sometimes we don’t see any Moon at all. These are called the Moon Phases and in one month’s time we are able to see the moon do both its waxing and waning.
