Where is the Earth in space? How do scientists know this?
The Earth is the thrid planet from the sun, however I do not know the exact distance. Scientist know this by satellites, and real interaction of going to the moon and back. My main question is, how far is the Earth (in miles) away from the sun? My other question (which isnt fully on topic) is, How did scientists know that it would be safe to travel to the moon, and how did they know it was possible to send out satellites?
Now that I have gotten more reliable information on the topic of Earth in space (and the solar system in general), I know have much more knowledge about space compared to before. The Earth is the third planet from the sun (149.6 million kilometers away from the sun). The planets all revolve around the sun as it’s main source and each planet is set up in a certain order, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune (which is all in order from the sun and out).
The Earth is in a Solar System which as many other planets in it. The scientists know this because they look though a telescope and study the galaxy and how it works.

Everything in space is constantly moving so scientists never know exactly where the Earth is in space. Further than the Earth’s home solar system the Milky Way anyways and scientists know this because they have explored space with satellites , rovers, and rockets.

I learned a lot of really cool things about Saturn in this investigation. I learned that Saturn makes it’s own heat and it’s density is so low it could float on water. I also learned that it has over 60 moons. And the rings were once thought to be moons.
Scientists know where the Earth is located by using Satellites to detect where the sun and other planets are located. They might also send out little mini robots that act like Satellites too. But Isn’t the Earth like the third planet from the Sun? I think it might be because our Planet is not too Cold or too Hot like the planet farthest from the Sun and the Coldest.
Now that I know so much more about the Moon, Planets, and the Solar System, I can say that Scientists know where The Earth and other Planets are based on Satellites or past discoveries. Scientists now use a mini Satellite that they send up into the Solar System to observe the Planets as the days go by. Mercury is the closest planet, Venus is the second closest, Earth is the third, Mars is fourth, Jupiter is fifth, Saturn is sixth, Uranus is seventh, and Neptune is the Coldest Planet in the Solar System.

In Class I learned that even though on a universal scale the solar system we live in is pretty microscopic its still pretty huge compared to most other things. I also learned that most or all models of the solar system are LIES!!!!! None of the planets are that close together.
the earth is near the sun and isn’t the sun the biggest planet in the solar system? pretty sure it is if they they see the sun the should see earth 3rd plant from the sun believing so. wouldn’t they need to people to have like a gps or something because they can’t just send people out into space and expect for them to find there own way back.
i learned that all the planets orbit the sun in someway i also learned that all the planets are important if on gets removed it hurts the whole system and sun is the main thing in the solar system it is vey important soon it will die out and everything will die out because the sun its the thing that keeps everything up.
