How do changes in the population size of a particular species of plant or animal relate to the environmental conditions where it lives?

  1. Caden says:

A decrease in population size may be a result of a shrinking habitat for that species. It could also mean that the shrinking population’s food is running out.

  2. Kyleisha G says:

The environment is important in which a plant and animal may reside in because each species need certain food, or places to assure their health conditions are good. Say a plant is fading away due to changes in temperature or perhaps even a new animal that’s not used to the plant may eat it or cause it to die off. A population could be increasing and in result another species will get smaller because less food options.

  3. Josh says:

If the environment in which a species lives is harsh and has little food, the population will be lower. This is because the organisms living there have to compete more and have more stressful living conditions over all.
On the other hand, if the environment in which an organism lives is lush with vegetation and has few predators, the organism will most likely thrive and be high in population.

If the environmental conditions in the area an animal lives become unsuitable for the species of plant or animal, the population size will most likely decrease because they aren’t receiving what they need to survive. Plants and animals are dependent on a specific environment to thrive and maintain their population. If this environment changes, they will be forced to adapt or experience a decrease in population.

  5. Raegan says:

Changes in environmental conditions where a certain species of animal or plant could lead to changes within that species’ population. If that species of plant or animal is no longer suited to a certain environment after that environment changes, the population of that species may decrease. A decrease in habitat size could also lead to a shrinking population. If the environment experiences an increase in things like food or water sources, a species’ population may increase as well.

An organism’s successfulness is dependent on many factors in the environment. These factors include food availability, habitat changes, and climate change. Consistent habitat, climate, and food are imperative.

  7. Carlito says:

Maybe global warming, or something like that. Or even deforestation, like cutting down the tree for which they might like cut down birds homes, and probably changing the environment for animals that are used to it, so when its different they might move somewhere else but not survive because its something they’re not used to. Also the environment they’re in might be like a hunting zone like for deer, birds, and polar bears, which could cause them to go extinct.

  8. matt says:

I think that the population size of a species relates to the environmental conditions because of how much food is available. If a lot of food is available to a certain species that species population will be much higher than if little food was available.

  9. marchello says:

A particular species can be brought down in size due to many different factors like a if the weather conditions of the environment become unsuitable for the survival of the species.

  10. Ally says:

The changes that happen to an environment will effect the plant and animal population based on if the conditions are still okay for the plants or animals to reside. If a natural disaster were to occur in an area and wipe out the food source for an animal they would no longer be able to survive and have to relocate. This would cause a drop in population.

  11. Gaven says:

Changes in the size of a population of a species could have to do with the amount of food in the type of environment that species is living in or if the environment around it changes.

  12. William says:

Changes in population can really affect the environment around them. You can take China for example, in the bigger cities where there is a huge population density the air quality is very bad. People are constantly wearing mask everyday because of how bad the air their breathing is. Another example is the fact that earth is warming and the oceans are rising. This is a result of humans pumping toxic substances into the atmosphere.

  13. neal says:

The place that they breed could have been changed in a way that it can’t any more. By human dvlmint or how many will come will affect how many will repopulate the aireu. Affect one the way back other breeding grounds and less will repopulate over time,

  14. Frank says:

It would affect the population by making the life spans shorter and it could affect the area around them as well. The population density would limit it and that could change it as well.

  15. cyrus says:

Changes in population in animals and plants can relate to the conditions of where it is located in many ways. For example there may be short amounts of an animal because their main source of food is low. Because of a drought or even when loss of habitat like deforestation and humans moving onto the land.

  16. Maddox says:

I believe that the population size of an organism’s species depends on the environmental conditions they live in because of the main source of food they use to survive on. If that source moves away in the winter then or if the area has a harsh environment that organism will either have to move with it or find another source of food.

  17. Jasmine says:

When the population size of an animal changes, the food, water, and shelter availability changes.

  18. glenn says:

It could be because of lack of nutrients/food in certain areas on the globe. Climate change could also play a big role in the lack of nutrients/food for a Pacific species of plant or animal.

  19. Che Chernugal says:

Changes in population have a detrimental effect on the environment. The growth and density of a species in a particular area affects the environment on how one species interacts with the ecosystem and its coexisting organisms that all take a toll for survival.

  20. Robert says:

The population might decrease If the environment around that species were to go away then they would have to move out of that area because they might need a specific food or liquid to survive.

  21. hailey says:

If the environment changes then the population changes. For example, cold weather will most definitely freeze plants which can cause animals that depend on that plant to move to a whole other area.

  22. Alec Reiplinger says:

Because it can use up certain resources and the environment will change causing the population to change.
